Natural fibre insulation (NFI) products and systems are derived from natural materials such as wood fibre, wool, hemp, cellulose and straw. NFI is now the fastest growing insulation segment in the UK and its share of the market is expected to grow significantly over the coming years.
Last year’s inaugural Summit was one of our most popular events ever with 300+ sign-ups, kicking off a series of online events in 2023 with further webinars on Rethinking IWI with Natural Fibre Insulation and Airtightness, Breathability and Condensation Risk in Buildings.
At last year’s Summit, our expert speakers gave an overview of the different applications for NFI, explained how natural fibre insulation can help solve the retrofit challenge, and delivered a detailed practical presentation on insulating external walls with natural fibres.

About this year’s Summit
Our guest keynote speaker for this year’s event is Seb Laan Lomas, Passivhaus Designer and Associate at leading architect practice and long-time ASBP patron member Architype. Architype have been at the forefront of delivering Passivhaus, low embodied carbon and healthy buildings for decades, championing natural materials and timber along the way.
Seb is one of the leading lights in the industry and has been a coordinator for ACAN since 2019, developing the network’s strategic direction, and coordinating multiple national campaigns. Seb will present some exemplar case studies and explain the positive route forward Architype have taken to robustly demonstrate fire resistance in timber construction with natural fibre insulation.

About the Natural Fibre Insulation Group
We will be joined by members of the Natural Fibre Insulation Group, which includes the leading manufacturers, suppliers and installers of NFI in the UK.
For the past 5 years this collective of ASBP members has worked collaboratively to better communicate the multiple benefits of natural insulation, via knowledge sharing events, exhibitions, peer-reviewed briefing papers, and representation at Environmental Audit Committee inquiries.
