ASBP Innovation Pitch Series - Flooring, Paints & Finishes

The Alliance for Sustainable Building Products (ASBP), in collaboration with the ASBP Plastics in Construction Group, has launched an exciting new innovation pitch series.

Aimed at innovators, start-ups and manufacturers launching new product ranges, the purpose of the innovation pitch series is to identify innovative alternatives to conventional plastic building materials and packaging. The products can be at any stage of the innovation cycle from early development to market ready.

On Thursday 19th November 2020, 11:00-12:30, another round of the ASBP Innovation Pitch Series, focused on innovative alternatives to conventional flooring, paints and finishes products.

Meet our Judges

Carl Taylor is a Director at Accord Housing. Accord is one of the largest housing and social care organisations in the Midlands, providing 13,000 affordable homes and health and social care to 80,000 people and employing nearly 4,000. As part of the CHARM Interreg project, Accord is aiming to become the first housing association in the UK to build virtually plastic free houses in its attempts to reduce the amount of plastic used during construction.

Carol Costello believes in the power of the collective to find solutions to difficult problems. Building this vital consensus underpins the success of Cullinan Studio’s architecture.

Over 25 years practicing architecture, she has learned much from her inspiring clients and brings that deep insight to every new project. Having led the design on significant cultural, education and infrastructure projects, Carol has helped people navigate not only the design journey, but also the cultural and organisational change required to occupy new buildings once completed.

She is one of three Practice Leaders at Cullinan Studio re-defining a common purpose toward care of our planet through responsible design.

Alongside Carol’s professional activities, she is passionate about walkable cities, community food growing and creating career opportunities in architecture for less advantaged young people.

Jess Hrivnak relishes creating. She enjoys curating ideas and stories, gathering data to inform choices and design. Her career started in architecture, combining her love of science and art. She has worked in the industry for the past 15 years, nurturing a belief that sustainability goes beyond environmental impact. Jess has worked on UK and international masterplan strategies and provided sustainable design advice at a building level. She has also written sustainability guides to site selection, project specifications and worked with organisations to embed sustainable management techniques. A firm believer in outcome orientated design, Jess enjoys working with clients and project teams to develop creative solutions that have tangible results.
