The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has launched new guidelines [NG149, published January 2020] for improving indoor air quality in both new and existing homes.
The guidance includes a 2 page summary document which outlines steps for improving IAQ for local authorities, healthcare professionals, and architects/designers/builders/developers.
There are also a number of detailed recommendations regarding prioritising indoor air quality in local strategies or plans, housing assessment referrals, raising awareness of poor indoor air quality in the home, advice for the general public, advice for people with pre-existing health conditions and using standards to improve indoor air quality.
