Preoptima develops digital tools that help both industry and local government reduce the whole life carbon impact of buildings.
Our mission is to make whole life carbon reduction and compliance simple, actionable, and impactful—supporting Net Zero goals through better design, clearer planning, and stronger policy implementation.
We deliver this through two core platforms:
CONCEPT – empowers architects, developers, and consultants to model, assess, and reduce whole life carbon from the earliest stages of design. The platform enables rapid carbon optioneering by allowing users to explore different structural systems, building assemblies, and material choices, with real-time feedback on whole life carbon impact.
PACER – supports local planning authorities in enforcing whole life carbon policies. Acting as a technical co-pilot, the platform streamlines the review of carbon assessments submitted through planning applications—reducing reliance on specialist expertise and upskilling case officers in the process.
Founded on over 25 years of academic research, Preoptima brings deep expertise in carbon policy and assessment. Our team has helped shape national guidance and international frameworks, and we’re now applying that knowledge to develop practical, scalable tools that meet the real-world needs of the built environment.
Headquartered in the UK with a growing international presence, Preoptima operates at the intersection of climate tech, digital planning, and sustainable design.
