Timber innovation in Retrofit: Are hybrid structures the way forward?
Kelly Harrison and an expert panel – including Seaforth’s Tyler Goodwin, Buckley Gray Yeoman’s Amr Assaad, and chair AJ sustainability editor Hattie Hartman – will explore the opportunities and challenges of hybrid structures, with a particular focus on timber.
This is the fifth in a series of Roca/AJ thought leadership discussions focused on design in response to climate emergency. This panel brings together an architect, a leading client and a structural engineer to explore the opportunities and challenges of retrofit, with a particular focus on timber.
Discussion topics include maximising the potential of existing foundations and structure, using whole life carbon assessments to inform material choices, fire risk, sustainable timber sourcing, specification to avoid use of toxic adhesives, end of life scenarios and more.
This in-person event will be held at the multi-award-winning Roca London Gallery, hosts a rolling programme of cultural exhibitions and events on a variety of themes within the fields of architecture, design and sustainability.
