Putney Chapels

Putney Chapels

Putney Chapels is a locally listed building surrounded by Putney Lower Common and a historic cemetery, left derelict for at least 30 years. The building was in extremely poor condition.
This is a conservation project championing sustainability, as we aimed to rescue the building by repairing it and providing imaginative re-use as a dwelling annexe to the nearby cemetery lodge, securing its long-term viability.
Works included gentle internal re-arrangement, breathable insulation, innovative secondary glazing and a new natural ventilation strategy. Conservation works included carefully repairing roofs, stonework and stained glass windows and use of hot-mixed lime mortar.
