Our members MEDITE SMARTPLY are one of Europe’s most well-known brands of MDF. In addition to their aims for quality, consistency and performance, they recognise their responsibility to environmental issues. They are committed to meeting environmental standards in the development of new and innovative products and have produced Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) for existing products.
MEDITE products have been used in many projects including Architype’s Oak Meadow Primary School. This project was constructed from a simple and robust palette of materials – timber cladding, zinc roofing, timber windows and doors externally, timber screens, natural linoleum, organic paints and stains internally. SMARTPLY OSB3 panels were used for the inner external walls and first floor ceiling, providing strength and airtightness and helping the school achieving the certified Passivhaus standard.
Other projects where MEDITE products have been used include: The Central Bank of Ireland BREEAM Outstanding building, and a state-of-the-art sports and learning centre in Cambridge. Fire rated MEDITE PREMIER FR was used for the acoustic panels of these projects.
Panels for paintings at Raigmore Children’s Hospital Garden in Inverness were made from MEDITE TRICOYA EXTREME. This product was chosen for the hospital environment as there is zero added formaldehyde and it is made weather resistant using an organic acetylation process. MEDITE MDF products are CARB 2 compliant, conforming to strict controls of formaldehyde emission levels.
