The costs of monitoring for VOCs have reduced, with basic tests starting at just over £100. We have received a recent report on one school, which was tested, with formaldehyde levels 10 times in excess of WHO limit guidance, some 12 months after occupation. The ASBP has contacted the developer, who admitted he knew very little about formaldehyde or how to develop a low formaldehyde specification and procure on this basis. We are preparing an industry guidance note on formaldehyde, which will be available at our Conference and Expo on 15th February. A number of organisations will be sharing their learning from recent monitoring studies, including Four Walls on ventilation, St Gobain and Waverton Analytics.
