EGG Lighting reached the finals of the 2021 ASBP Awards as well as receiving the judges vote to become the winners of the ASBP Innovation Pitch Series. The judges were impressed by their trace and remanufacture service that creates a circular economy option for light fittings.
The ongoing improvement to efficiency of lighting equipment has created a high demand for replacement fittings, but collection and recycling of old fittings remains low. Remanufacturing offers a solution that keeps 90% of the existing materials in use, with the improved performance of new equipment.
Circular Design Engineer, Tom Ruddell, explained EGG’s aim for remanufacturing as an open-source, long-term solution that cuts costs for clients, creates job opportunities, and reduces CO2 emissions.
