ASBP joins industry-wide collaborative task force

ASBP’s technical associate Katherine Adams will join over 50 experts to take part in one of four new task groups which will support the development of the Net Zero Whole Life Carbon Roadmap for the Built Environment. They have been brought together to work through the decarbonisation implications across sectors and develop a timeline of solutions.

The Roadmap, announced in December, aims to develop a trajectory of carbon reduction targets and actions, covering the total lifecycle impact of the built environment in the UK, and secure the support of relevant industry actors in delivering decarbonisation. The project is a co-owned process that brings together key stakeholders from across the built environment sector.

This project is part of a multi-national project (#BuildingLife) coordinated by WorldGBC and made possible with the support of Laudes Foundation and Ikea Foundation. The development of national Roadmaps will be led by GBCs across 10 European markets in the lead up to COP26 and will aim to build a common vision and agreed on actions for achieving net zero carbon in the construction, operation and demolition of buildings and infrastructure.

UKGBC will undertake a consultation on the draft roadmap proposals in June-July 2021 to capture perspectives from across the industry.
