The first of the 2025 Green Register Twilight Talks looks at engaging young people in the Net Zero Transition.
We’d all like to get the next generation interested in net-zero – but what’s the hook to bring them in? Is it high quality jobs? Shiny renewable technology? Or a moral imperative to save the Earth from climate catastrophe?
Join speaker Roy Kareem, Future Generations Lead at the Centre for Sustainable Energy, for this Twilight Talk as he makes a case for all the above, but asks that we start with the person, the individual, and work outwards from there.
Roy will introduce concepts around the values and strengths-based work he’s done at the intersection of young people and net-zero thus far, along with a new framework he’s been recently working with known as the Inner Development Goals.
How can the construction industry use these approaches to encourage young people towards careers? Is the much talked about ‘green economy’ attractive to young people, and what opportunities are there for a ‘green’ job in construction?
