- Two panel sessions discussing how to frame reuse for maximum engagement, and collaboration across supply chains respectively
- Interactive workshops on topics including material pathway auditing for the built environment, designing for reuse as a risk management strategy, and the business case for reuse
- Drinks and networking at a local pub after the event
About the event
Building Resilience Through Reuse brings together the people shaping the future of construction, from policy and design through to deconstruction and materials reuse, this is your chance to connect across the full value chain.
Building on three successful Reuse Summits (2023–2025), this year’s event goes further, welcoming professionals from operations, finance, manufacturing, procurement and beyond. If you want to understand where the industry is heading and how you fit into it, you won’t want to miss this.
Aligned with ASBP’s Reuse Now campaign, the event is designed to accelerate the reuse of construction materials and help you play your part in creating a resilient, resource-efficient, low-carbon future.
Bring a colleague: We’re asking delegates to #BringABuddy—invite someone from another discipline, part of the supply chain or wider network who wouldn’t usually attend a circular economy event. For the benefits of a circular economy to be maximised it needs to be adopted by the majority as a collaborative effort, this event is one of many endeavours to support our sector to scale adoption.
What you'll gain
- Broader perspective: engage with a wide cross-section of the construction industry
- Real-world confidence: see how reuse is already happening
- Practical next steps: accelerate adoption of circular strategies to build a more resilient construction sector
Why reuse, why now?
- Reuse helps cut carbon and reduce waste, while also improving supply-chain resilience in an increasingly unstable global environment.
- Circular economy thinking is now firmly on the agenda in policy and business leadership.
- Demand is rising quickly: in a recent industry survey, 86% of respondents said that less than 20% of their projects required reuse elements in 2020; by 2025, more than half said at least 50% of projects required some reuse.

Programme
Registration and Networking - 09:45-10:15
Welcome - 10:15-10:30
Richard Broad, CEO, ASBP and Debbie Ward, Director, Circular Economy and Reuse, ASBP
Morning Keynote - 10:30-11:00
Georgia Elliott-Smith, Director of Sustainability, Elliott Wood
As the opening keynote at the Building Resilience through Reuse event, Georgia will present an overview of the construction industry, how decisions being made now will effect risk and resilience in the longer term and where a circular economy fits within that. She will speak to her experiences of how important it is to frame the impact of low carbon, circular solutions in business terms to get finance decision makers on board, and what levers we need to focus on to support/push investors into incorporating reuse.
Session 1 - 11:00-12:15 (choose one to attend)
Panel session – Strategic
Getting beyond the Why to focus maximum effort and budget on the How?
Led by ASBP
Panellists will begin with answering their most often asked (of them) ‘Why’ question and then discussions will follow about their experiences and lessons learnt on how reuse can be facilitated/implemented and the benefits it can bring.
Workshop – Strategic
Redesigning Design: Should we demand more from the buildings we design?
Led by ACAN and Architects Declare
This session will investigate the role of designers in creating opportunities for reuse. How do our design processes and procurement need to change to incentivise reuse? How do we communicate value to clients and design teams? Do we need to rethink the current framework to unlock circularity (RIBA Stage 8)?
Workshop – Detail
Standardise, normalise, industrialise reuse
Led by FIS
There are great examples of reuse of construction products, with some companies already demonstrating how reuse can be a viable business model. The FIS have been exploring how to make reuse more business as usual and will share industry learnings to demonstrate how reuse processes can enable an industrial approach to reuse.

Reuse of Steel: using AI for informed decision-making
Led by ASBP
Decisions on whether to reuse steel are often constrained by incomplete or inaccessible information, which could introduce perceived risk and slow upscale. This session explores how AI can support the assessment of the condition, suitability, and value of existing steel, giving stockholders, fabricators, designers, contractors, and clients the confidence to evaluate reuse potential at an early project stage.
Lunch, ‘Ask the Expert’ Exhibition Stands and Speed Networking - 12:15-14:00.
Reuse Champion Award - 14:00-14:15
The importance of behaviour and project culture can never be under-estimated. Even with the best technology and the most streamlined processes, without buy-in and action from people new ways of working will not succeed. To reflect this we are introducing a Circular Economy/Reuse Champion Award, where organisations and project teams will be able to nominate peers or colleagues who have gone above and beyond to drive reuse on a project. Applications will be open in July, with a public voting system to create a shortlist of finalists which will then be put to an audience vote at the event where the winner will be announced.
Afternoon Keynote - 14:15-14:45
A second keynote speaker from the public sector will kick off the afternoon’s proceedings.
Session 2 - 14:45-16:00 (choose one to attend)
Panel session – Strategic
Supply chain engagement
Led by UKGBC
Engagement with the supply chain and collaboration towards a common goal are key to enabling the reuse of materials. Building on existing UKGBC outputs, the panel will explore how engagement and collaboration across the supply chain can help unlock reuse on projects and in doing so create more resilient supply chains. Drawing on examples from practice, panellists will share how they have enabled reuse on projects and the key challenges and lessons learnt from the experience.
Workshop – Strategic
Business Case – Finance/Risk
Led by Circular Do Tank
The Circular Do Tank brings a uniquely plural perspective – combining insights from developers, planners, insurers, legal specialists and designers – to present case studies that explore the financial and economic viability of reuse. This session focuses on how circular construction can strengthen asset value, reduce risk and deliver measurable returns, showing that reuse makes business sense.

Material Pathways Auditing for the Built Environment (MPA-BE)
Led by ISEP
MPA‑BE is a structured, transparent and quantifiable approach to unlocking the value of existing materials.
Through a hands-on exercise, participants will learn about the MPA process in a real-world scenario, exploring how Materials Inventories and Opportunities Registers can inform better decisions on retention, reuse and repurposing.
Designed for built environment professionals, this session will demonstrate how early-stage auditing can shape concept design, procurement and project outcomes and help turn buildings into true “material banks” that maximise value and circularity benefits in practice.
Workshop – Detail
Designing for Reuse as a Risk Management Strategy
Led by the Engineers Reuse Collective
When design teams embed circular economy principles, such as reuse, early in a project commercial, programme, carbon, and procurement risk can all be reduced. This session explores how engineers can develop designs, specifications, and workflows that allow reused materials to be incorporated flexibly at procurement stage without compromising safety, performance, or compliance.
Summary and Feedback - 16:00-16:15
Close - 16:15
Drinks and Networking at the Euston Flyer Pub
About ASBP's Reuse Now Campaign
