The designTimber 2025 series begins with the NMITE Skylon Campus – a new state-of-the art campus in Hereford and an exemplar of sustainable timber construction.
The campus comprises two 700 sq metre workshops – the Centre for Advanced Timber Technology (CATT) and the Centre for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) – which, together, are leading providers of manufacturing and timber education, offering a wide range of sustainable built environment courses.
Internally, Skylon Campus has been established as a ‘Living Lab’, showcasing different timber and steel construction methods to provide a real-life learning environment for students to study and use current engineering equipment and techniques.
Project architect Aditi Saxena from Bond Bryan and timber engineer Greg Cooper from Hybrid Structures will be joined by main contractor Adrian Speller from Speller Metcalfe to provide insight into the design and delivery of this project.
