SNaB Practical Retrofit: External Wall Insulation and Lime Plastering

Date: Wednesday 15 April to Sun 19 April 2026   Time:    Location: Todmorden, West Yorkshire OL14 7BX

There is a growing movement of people who want to move beyond the theory of “fabric first” and actually pick up the tools. The School of Natural Building ‘Practical Retrofit Series’ is designed to bridge that gap. They provide the time, the space, and the expert guidance needed to complete professional quality fabric improvement projects.

Upcoming courses in this series:

5-day External Wall Insulation (EWI) and Lime Plastering Course:
Learners will be applying external insulation to a professional quality, ensuring that they leave this course with the confidence to tackle their own sustainable retrofit. Over the 5-days, you will put theory into practice, focusing on the tricky, real-world details that can lead to failure with poor installation.
15th-19th April 2026 and 13th-17th May 2026.

3-day Lime Pointing Course:
This course provides a practical foundation in lime pointing, specifically focused on the repair and thermal performance of traditional solid-wall buildings. Pointing cannot be learned in an afternoon. It is a multi-stage process that requires an understanding of building physics and the patience to follow the material’s curing cycle. Over three days, you will cover the entire sequence from initial raking out to the final batting back of the mortar.
21st-23rd April 2026
