As Futurebuild celebrates its 20th anniversary, the theme for 2025 is Impact—marking two decades of driving positive change in the built environment and the communities we serve. Be part of this milestone event and contribute to shaping a more sustainable future.
ASBP will be exhibiting on stand no. A30 and has curated three seminars at this year’s show:
- Making it mainstream: Unlocking the potential of natural insulation (5th March)
- Increasing traceability, transparency and biodiversity in mass timber supply chains (5th March)
- Natural materials for new build and retrofit (6th March)
Please see below for further detail on the seminars. Find out more about Futurebuild at www.futurebuild.co.uk and register now for your free ticket.
ASBP seminar sessions
Wednesday 5th March, 13:15-14:00, ACAN Stage
Making it mainstream: Unlocking the potential of natural fibre insulation
Natural fibre insulation is gaining momentum as a healthier and more sustainable alternative to conventional materials, but how can these products become more widely adopted by the mainstream? This panel session, co-hosted with ACAN, brings together industry experts from the ASBP Natural Fibre Insulation Group to showcase different types of natural insulation, including hemp, woodfibre, cellulose and grass, with a hands-on “show and tell”. Speakers will explore the multiple benefits of these materials, from improving indoor air quality to managing moisture naturally; identify their most appropriate applications, and discuss the challenges and opportunities for wider adoption, as the market shifts and major manufacturers start to invest in natural insulation.
- Welcome to the session – Chris Brookman, Founder, Back to Earth (Chair)
- Cellulose – Jasper Meade, Director, PYC
- Grass – Annie Benton, Technical Specification Advisor, Ecological Building Systems
- Hemp – Ele George, Industry Collaboration Lead, IndiNature
- Woodfibre – Dominic Putnam, Head of Marketing & Business Development, Limegreen
- Q&A/panel discussion

Increasing traceability, transparency and biodiversity in mass timber supply chains: Findings from the IMPACTT project
The IMPACTT (Innovative Mapping and Processes to Advance Construction Timber Transparency) initiative, supported by Built by Nature, aims to increase traceability and transparency in mass timber supply chains. Its focus is on biodiversity impacts, and input into revision of key sustainable forestry standards and certification systems to better integrate carbon and biodiversity assessments. Join the project team to find out more about the key research findings and next steps.
- Welcome to the session – Simon Corbey, CEO, ASBP (Chair)
- Findings from the IMPACTT project –
- Asselia Katenbayeva, Research Associate, ASBP
- Darren Thomas, Co-founder/CEO, Double Helix
- John Kirkby, Executive Director, PEFC UK Limited
- Q&A/panel discussion
Thursday 6th March 2025, 12:30-13:15, Materials Impact Stage
Natural materials for new build and retrofit
There are significant benefits of using vapour permeable natural and bio-based materials for the retrofit of existing and historic buildings, particularly those with solid walls which require a ‘breathable’ building fabric to be retained to safely manage the transfer of moisture and avoid harmful mould growth. However, natural materials can be a viable low carbon solution for new build development too, with case studies spanning housing, offices, schools, and higher education buildings. Join the ASBP and expert industry speakers to find out more, with case studies, top tips, lessons learned, and Q&A.
- Welcome to the session – Richard Broad, Director, ASBP
- Linseed paint – Michiel Brouns, Founder & CEO, Brouns & Co (Representing the ASBP Paints & Finishes Group)
- Lime renders and plasters – Peter Rollinson, Sustainable Insulation Specialist, Mike Wye (Representing the ASBP Lime Group)
- Breathable plasters and boards – Thomas Robinson, Managing Director/Founder, Adaptavate
- Case study: Transforming Homes project – Emma Taylor, Research Associate, University of Bath
- Q&A/panel discussion
