Richard Broad appointed Chief Executive as Simon Corbey takes on new Executive Director role

News article – 2nd June 2026

The Alliance for Sustainable Building Products is pleased to announce that Richard Broad has assumed the position of Chief Executive. ASBP members and stakeholders will be familiar with Richard, having been an integral part of our team for over a decade.

This is an exciting time for ASBP as we enter a new phase of growth and development, made possible by the strong foundations built under outgoing CEO Simon Corbey over the past fifteen years.

We are pleased to confirm that Simon Corbey will continue to work with us as Executive Director, focusing on areas including member development, outreach and knowledge transfer to Richard, the team and the wider industry.

Mark Lynn, ASBP Chair

“The ASBP has grown in influence and credibility progressively, thanks in no small part to Simon’s leadership. I can’t think of a better time and opportunity to build on those foundations and ensure the ASBP continues on its path.

The entire board has full confidence that Richard, with his knowledge of our organisation and stakeholders, will guide us through the next chapters of our development.”

Richard Broad, Chief Executive

“I am delighted to take on the role of Chief Executive at ASBP. Having joined the organisation over a decade ago, I’ve had the opportunity to work across almost every aspect of the organisation, from running our annual awards and hosting events, to chairing working groups and project managing research projects.

In that time our membership has grown to over 165 organisations, our team has expanded, and the breadth of what we cover, from natural materials and mass timber to healthy buildings and reuse, reflects how much the sector’s appetite for our work has grown. That is largely down to Simon’s leadership and the support of our excellent team and board.

I look forward to working alongside Simon in his new membership-focused role, engaging closely with our members, and continuing the important work we do together, in which our mission to lead the transformation to a healthy low carbon built environment is ever more important.”

Richard Broad, Outgoing CEO

“I’ve been working in sustainability for 30 years now and heading up the ASBP since we launched in 2011. In that time the organisation has grown significnatly and we have become a respected voice and a go-to source of information on sustainable building products.

I now feel it is the right time to pass over the baton to Richard Broad to bring new energy and vision to the role and I am very confident he will guide the organisation successfully into the next decade.

I am delighted to hand over at such an exciting moment, as we announce our biggest ever in-person event on 4th November at the British Library for our Building Resilience through Reuse event, and commence a new project on moisture in mass timber as a sister guide to our Mass Timber Insurance Playbook.”
