Flavie has spent the last 18 years working more specifically on materials sustainability, from carrying out life cycle assessment (LCA) of products and buildings to considering responsible sourcing, circular economy and health and wellbeing issues. Flavie has a particular interest in embodied carbon and the net zero agenda in relation to construction products and buildings. Flavie joined BRE in June 2003 after obtaining a PhD in Metallurgy and Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Birmingham. As an associate director in the Strategic Advisory Group at BRE, Flavie was responsible for leading the sustainability team. Her role involved identifying opportunities for growth, coordinating bids and projects with internal and external stakeholders, managing and delivering work related to sustainability in the built environment.
