Sir Stephen Holgate is a world-renowned air quality expert and has researched into the mechanisms and treatment of asthma and allied disorders with over 1000 research publications. He is currently UK Research and Innovation Clean Air Champion and Special Advisor to the RCP on Air Quality. He led the RCP 2016 “Every Breath We Take” report on Air pollution and, in 2020, the RCPCH “The Inside Story” report on indoor air pollution. On June 19th, 2025 (UK Clean Air Day) he launched the update on the 2016 report, “A Breath of Fresh Air”. He was appointed CBE in 2011 for contributions to Clinical Science and Knighted in 2020 for Medical Research.
