ASBP Member, HEMSPAN Ltd® is to open a mass production housing factory in Rochford, Essex. The BIOHAUS® building system uses bio-based materials, including hemp, to deliver sustainable homes at scale.
Every BIOHAUS® home is precision-manufactured for rapid assembly, ensuring low waste, minimal site disruption, and a significantly reduced carbon footprint. The Modern Method of Construction (Category 2) BIOHAUS® building system, aims to enable ‘climate positive living’, with each home producing more energy than it consumes.
The first major housing project that will benefit from these healthy homes is Rochford Park, a proposed 2,000-home landscaped village and the UK’s first large-scale ‘climate positive’ community.
HEMSPAN is proud to announce that the new factory will produce up to 2,000 high-performance homes annually, create 350 direct jobs, and embed skills and opportunity into the heart of the Rochford community.
Partnering with HEMSPAN in this project are Blake + Blake Architects, Apply Structure Ltd, and Ceres Property, with ADAM Architecture appointed as masterplanning lead for Rochford Park.
