The course includes a presentation on the properties, types and uses of lime as well as practical demonstrations and hands-on work including slaking, mortar analysis, mixing, pointing, limewashing, preparation of backgrounds, plastering and protection of work.
The course is suitable for anyone involved in the repair of old buildings or in the construction of ecological new-builds – contractors, homeowners and specifiers.

Lime Plastering for Professionals
A two-day course designed for professionals and plasterers, with experience of lime plasters. The course will extend the theoretical knowledge of the different plasters and will focus on improving technique and skills to achieve better finishes with a range on products.

Ty-Mawr’s training centre is based in a beautiful complex of Grade II* listed buildings, formerly a farmstead, in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Mid Wales. The refurbished Training Centre was opened on 22nd June 2009 by Their Royal Highnesses, The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. The site is still the family home of the founders of Ty-Mawr, Nigel and Joyce Gervis and their children, and is an ongoing restoration project.
