Ty Mawr: Insulation and Retrofit

A 1-day course learning about a range of natural fibre insulations and how they should be applied to both traditional and modern buildings to create a comfortable living environment.

This course is designed for homeowners, architects, and builders.

Ty-Mawr’s training centre is based in a beautiful complex of Grade II* listed buildings, formerly a farmstead, on the shore of Llangors Lake, in the heart of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park in Mid Wales. T. The site is still the family home of the founders of Ty-Mawr, Nigel and Joyce Gervis and their children, and is an ongoing restoration project.

Introduction to Lime

A two-day course showcasing the wide range of lime products, this practical workshop will give you a good understanding of how to choose and use the correct materials, with plenty of time to ask questions about your personal projects.

Lime Plastering for Professionals 
A two-day course designed for professionals and plasterers, with experience of lime plasters. The course will extend the theoretical knowledge of the different plasters and will focus on improving technique and skills to achieve better finishes with a range on products.

Limecrete
A comprehensive one day course for our Sublime® Insulated Limecrete Floor System, covering everything from initial investigations and detailing, to installation and choice of finishes. A hands-on introduction to laying limecrete.

A comprehensive one day course covering the history and styles of thatching, as well as practical hands-on work on a purpose built display. It will cover what is and isn’t repairable, new and repair projects, and selection of materials.
