ASBP member, the School of Natural Building (SNaB) offers two, practical courses in Bristol: straw bale building, and clay plastering. The 5-day courses are led by Salli Gosling and cover all the essential skills of building with straw bales and finishing them with clay plaster. Folks of all building abilities are welcome, whether a beginner or experienced craftsperson. On completion, the participants will receive a Straw Bale Build certificate or a Clay Plastering certificate from the School of Natural Building.
Participants will be building and plastering an internal straw-bale “feature wall” at The Watershed Arts Centre, Bristol, BS1 5TX. The wall will only be clay plastered on 3 sides as the fourth side is covered with a glazed panel so that the beauty of the wall can be seen from the outside.
