Universities have a unique opportunity to lead the drive for sustainable buildings and a more circular built environment. ASBP Member, Reusefully, present a webinar exploring the latest circular economy thinking as applied to university estates and buildings, with examples of projects that are starting to make the most of circularity.
The event will show how universities have a real opportunity to exploit the concept of buildings as material banks, and show the value of this to university estates departments, design teams, student populations and wider stakeholders. It will explore the relationship between circularity and whole life carbon assessments, and demonstrate how circular thinking and reuse can help reduce carbon emissions, improve resource efficiency and provide more adaptable and resilient buildings.
Speakers:
Katherine Adams of Reusefully, and ASBP Technical Director, will provide an introduction to circularity for university estates.
Jade Cox of Carbon.Climate.Certified who will be highlighting the importance of early design decisions in reducing a project’s whole life carbon footprint.
Juliana Renn of HLM Architects, exploring how net zero should be viewed as a baseline and how we should really be designing for regeneration to maximise the value of the built environment for all its stakeholders.
Rob Holdway of Giraffe Innovation, explaining how the circular building design at the LSE’s 35 Lincoln’s Inn Fields is being used as part of an Imperial College project to teach students about circularity and reuse.
