Republication of the Mass Timber Insurance Playbook

Date: Wednesday 4th December 2024   Time: 13:00-14:00   Location: Online (Zoom)

The hugely successful Mass Timber Insurance Playbook, originally launched in May 2023, has received backing from the Association of British Insurers (ABI). It has also been endorsed b the Fire Protection Authority (FPA) and the RISCAuthority.

The Playbook, which has been downloaded on average more than ten times per day since its initial release, will be reissued on 4 December 2024 to celebrate this latest recognition.

Mass timber has the potential to reduce the embodied impact of construction versus more conventional materials such as concrete and steel. It is strong and light, and as a natural material, has a strong aesthetic appeal. But, especially since the Grenfell disaster, mass timber projects have sometimes faced difficulty securing insurance.

Join the authors, industry leaders, and funders to hear the latest insights on mass timber buildings and insurance and celebrate the re-publication.

The development of the guidance was managed by The Alliance for Sustainable Building Products (ASBP), with expert input from cost consultants Gardiner and Theobald and mass timber experts Eurban. It was generously funded by Built by Nature, with contributions from Marsh and Zurich Resilience Solutions, and endorsement from the London Engineering Group, PEFC UK, RIBA, TDUK and Woodknowledge Wales.
