Join ASBP and the Timber Accelerator Hub for a lunchtime webinar on the latest research and developments for timber and bio-based materials regarding the UN Climate Change Conferences.
We’ll be joined a number of experts who are closely involved with COP26 preparations and will also reflect back on lessons learned from COP25 in Chile. Plus, we’ll receive updates on early plans for COP27: what do we know so far?
Frane Zilic, Polomadera Programme Director and Professor of Architecture, Universidad de Concepción (Chile)
Chile was the host for COP25 and as such they have been integral in agenda setting for COP 26. Frane has been heading up a government commission looking at the future of forests in Chile, examining the social, ecological, amenity and environmental benefits and challenges.
Read what they are doing with the Future Challenges, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee in the Chilean Senate here.
Paul Brannen, Director of Public Affairs, CEI-Bois
Paul Brannen is a former MEP (North East England, 2014-2019) and now heads up public affairs for the European Woodworking Industry Confederation CEI-Bois. Paul is leading the global timber industry’s joint response to COP26.
Michael Ramage, Director, Centre for Natural Material Innovation at the University of Cambridge
Michael heads up UoCambridge’s Centre for Natural Material Innovation (CNMI) which recently received funding from the Laudes Foundation for two new postdoctoral researchers to focus on optimising supply chains for timber buildings, and on policy to improve the regulatory environment that drives (and is driven by) construction. Michael’s current research is focused on developing low-energy structural materials and systems in masonry, better housing in the developing world and improved engineered timber and bamboo through natural material innovation.
