Squash
Squash is a creative food enterprise in Liverpool 8, led by a diverse group of local people. In 2014 they asked URBED to work with them to develop a new home, that opened in 2018.
This timber-framed and timber-clad building was designed in collaboration with its users. It creates a welcoming presence on Windsor Street, providing a shop, cafรฉ and a multi-activity space for training and community events.
The building is insulated with cellulose in the walls and roof, and recycled glass aggregate below the slab. It features triple-glazed timber windows and re-used, recycled and re-purposed materials in its fit-out.
