Knighthood for Professor Stephen Holgate

Our congratulations to Professor Stephen Holgate, awarded a knighthood in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours List. Professor Holgate is a world-renowned air quality expert and has contributed to our Healthy Buildings workstream by kindly agreeing to speak at several of our events. He first introduced many built environment professionals to the health effects of indoor air quality at our annual conference 2018. Sir Stephen is one of the lead authors for reports for the Royal College of Physicians and The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.ย  โ€˜Every breath we takeโ€˜, and the more recently published โ€˜The inside storyโ€˜, looks at the health effects of air quality on children and young people.

Prof Holgate is Clinical Professor of Immunopharmacology at the University of Southampton and Royal College of Physicians Special Advisor on Air Quality. He also has been advising SAGE , the government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies.

We are delighted that Prof Holgate has agreed to be our keynote speaker at Covid-19, the importance of healthy buildings on 22nd October 2020. This event is held in conjunction with The Green Register and forms part of the natureplus Europe Healthy Buildings 2020 series.
