LoftZone commissioned original research by the National Physical Laboratory and Carbon Trust that showed that loft insulation has significant in-use factors, caused by insulation compression from stored items or safe access decks, which reduces the insulation’s effectiveness by up to 60%, in 80% of the UK housing stock. Details of this research can be found on the LoftZone website and is also available as an online CPD course.

To prevent these in-use factors, LoftZone designed and commercialised the only BBA-approved raised decking structure for lofts, which is used to provide safe access and/or storage space in domestic and non-domestic loft spaces. The product won awards from Oxford University, the Mayor of London and the Ideal Home Show, has had tens of thousands of installs worldwide and is now regularly specified by architects and bought by homeowners alike.
