Scott Pearce

Scott joined Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) in 1996 after leaving the armed forces. Currently based in Operational Policy and Development as the Breathing Apparatus and Personal Protective Equipment manager Scott has enjoyed a long operational career working at several fire stations in East Kent as firefighter and operational commander. After conducting some brief research into fire toxicity and firefighter cancer rates, and presenting it to KFRS’ corporate team, Scott was appointed as project manager for a ‘Think Contaminants’ project aimed at mitigating operational exposure to the huge range of toxic substances firefighters are exposed to in their operational role. This has led to Scott sitting on a national project team chaired by the National Fire Chiefs Council researching the subject and assessing its impact on the UK fire service as a whole.
